DJ Wanker was born a long, long time ago. He was
raised by wolves. He started out DJ-ing at Dynamite
Boogaloo many moons ago - and was the warm-up boy
there for eight years. And you're right, he does look
much younger.
His favourite Boogaloo records were The Velvelettes'
Needle in a Haystack and Black Sabbath's Paranoid. He
played his first Electroclash set there in early 2002.
Afterwards someone came up to the DJ box and asked
him; "Could you not play something a bit more
up-to-date?" This rapturous reception was the spur
that got him thinking about starting Fuck The Pain
Away. But being hopelessly inert, it took him a
fucking age to actually set the ball in motion.
He finally started Fuck The Pain Away - Brighton's most favourite Homo Electro Punk Disco - with his chum, DJ A-Dam, in August 2003. The night now takes place at Candy Bar every first Saturday, and has established itself as the seaside city's big, queer alternative - and rather fun - night out. Since September 2005, they have also been regularly taking FTPA over to Warsaw.
He's also run other far less successful club nights; Booty ("Brighton's First Drum And Bass Night For Homosexualists"), Art Wank Fish Tank ("The world's first
Small Beat club" - this was a joke on Brighton's then Fat Boy Slim-mania), and the self-explanatory Rock & Roll Queer Bar.

The latter two were co-productions with Dynamite Sal.
Last summer, he co-ran the "controversial" Queer Bash
at Concorde2 during Brighton Pride weekend. He's also
DJ-ed at All Time Top 100, Anti-Social, Chaos Rocks,
Club Wotever, The Cock Brighton, Coco Latte Breakfast
Club, The Cowley Club, Flaming Queers, Fun-Raiser, The
Infamous Mudclub, Intermission, Ministry of Sound
Radio, Popjustice, Punch & Judy, QPC Rituals, Queer
Mutiny, Queeruption, Radio 4A, Straight Pride Dog
Show, The Vice Bar/The Old Blue Last, and The Popstarz
Tent at Brighton Pride.
DJ Wanker's day job involves "writing stuff about stuff". He spends his free time watching "documentaries" about Czech farmhands, listening to Abba and The Fall, hanging round in seedy gay bars, reading Noam Chomsky and tutting.
His friends call him "Richard".
